Master's Degree in Clinical Andrology
IntroductionThe Puigvert Foundation is an institution with a long tradition in urology, nephrology and andrology medicine, teaching and clinical practice. The andrological section was created at the beginning of the 1970s and since then it has become a national and European reference in the specialist area. The bases for the practice of andrology were established at the Institution. It is currently the only centre in Spain with an independent service and the only centre in Spain certified to teach this specialist area.
This Master's degree aims to provide the necessary skills on physiopathology of the male reproductive organ at different stages of life, the ethiology of the most serious male pathologies and the diagnostic methods for classifying them as well as the general principles for medical treatment and surgery in cases of andrological conditions.
ObjectivesThis master's degree gives training in pathophysiology of the male reproductive system in the different stages of life, the etiology of the main male pathologies, the diagnostic methods for classifying these pathologies, and the general principles of medical and surgical treatment of andrological diseases.
It prepares its students to perform high-level work in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the male reproductive system. It is open to specialists in endocrinology, urology and other areas (dermatology, gynaecology) with the approval of the managing board.
The diagnosis and treatment of sexual and reproductive health in men requires thorough knowledge of the basic sciences, genetics, pathology, endocrinology and basic surgery. It is also important to know the imaging techniques.
Close attention is paid to ethical and legal aspects of reproductive technologies, together with all the psychological aspects and the relationships between patients and the teams working in assisted reproduction techniques.
- Degree in Medicine with specialisms in Endocrinology, Urology, Dermatology or Gynaecology.
- Other specialties will be settled on credentials.
