Introduction

The objective of graphic design is to make a wide range of visual messages understanding and visually interesting.

In contrast to other type of visual communications, such as Advertising, it not always seeks to persuade nor is it used only to promote consumption. It does however focus on the creation of graphic identities and the management of campaigns for institutions and businesses, as well as brands and products.

Applied to the online sector, the profession of graphic design still has a long way to go, and at the same time it is conditioned and strengthened by the digital resources it is inevitably linked to. The mastery of the language of graphics on the internet implies acquiring knowledge of the support base, the specific technical characteristics of graphic elements, with its limitations and potentials; as well as the various digital tools and programming languages that exist.

These theoretical and practical skills will allow you to acquire the necessary knowledge to create a wide array of online publications with informative and/or persuasive aims.

The programme included in the Graduate Certificate in Digital Publishing Design focuses on the specificities of graphic design with regard to the design of online publications, interactive and multimedia graphic interfaces, web design, information architecture, editing and integration of audiovisual pieces, and web animation and consultancy services for new media.
