Introduction

Working dogs are always needed in today’s society in areas such as detective work, safety, civil protection and assistance. This has produced the need for specialist dog trainers to work in this area.

There is also a need for basic knowledge of the physical and behavioural aspects of dogs that serve in working environments as well as broad theoretical, and especially practical, knowledge of the different training techniques, both general and specific.

This professional sector is also officially establishing itself on regional and national levels and considering that it is one that exists internationally, there are constant references to prestigious specialists in this field from different countries and different specialisations, who also take part in the teaching.

The final phase of the course consists of establishing the bases for four different areas of work: police dogs, rescue dogs, guard dogs and guide dogs, each with their own different specialisations and with a clear intention to provide future trainers with the knowledge to decide which area they would like to work in the future.

- Increase the professional self-esteem of working-dog instructors.
