The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, thanks to an initiative by the governing team, has created a mediation committee with the aim of resolving possible conflicts which could deteriorate the relations between different members of the university community.

The aim is to offer an effective and comprehensive procedure to help solve conflictive situations through a committee which analyses the cases and offers alternatives with the aim of avoiding legal actions.

The Mediation Committee created by the UAB Governing Team is formed by Josep Font Cierco, Ombuds Officer to the UAB and professor in Organic Chemistry, who will be the committee's president; Maria Ysàs Solanes, lecturer in Civil Law; and Francisco Javier Moreno Oliver, lecturer in Research Methods and Educational Diagnosis and Coordinator of the UAB master's degree in Mediation.

One of the first interventions of this committee will be to begin the mediation process of a conflict which arose among different members of the university community after the Rectorat building was occupied in 2013.
