The UAB ranks 29 in the Top 100 universities under 50 years old in the ranking published today by Times Higher Education.

This year's ranking is topped by the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland. Among universities in Spain, the UAB comes in second after Pompeu Fabra University (12th place) and followed by the Autonomous University of Madrid (in 46th place) and the Rovira i Virgili University (in 80th place).

The classification takes into account indicators such as influence, volume, reputation and income generated by research, academic programmes offered, innovation and transfer of knowledge generated and the degree of internationalisation of the university.

The first edition of this ranking was published in May 2012 with the aim of proving that universities could demonstrate acquiring levels of excellence in a relatively short period of time.

The THE 100 Under 50 ranking complements the data from the yearly THE World University Rankings, which is published in the month of October, and the THE World Reputation Rankings, also published in October.
