UNANIMUN takes part in the 11th edition of the MUN in Barcelona

UNANIMUN took part in the 11th edition of the Model United Nations in Barcelona: the C’MUN 2016 (Catalonia Model United Nations 2016). Twelve UAB students participated in the event.

In late April the UNANIMUN association, formed by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona students and alumni, took part in the 11th edition of the Model United Nations in Barcelona: the C’MUN 2016 (Catalonia Model United Nations 2016). Twelve UAB students participated in the event.

In the C’MUN 2016 each student toook up a different role. On one hand, the UNANIMUN Secretary General (Alicia Homs) and the Coordinator General (Sanja Rahim) worked on the management of the 11th edition of the MUN. On the other hand, Patricia Aguado, member of the UNANIMUN Board of Advisors and Political Science and Public Administration student, together with Joan Segui, Biotechnology student worked as co-chairs.
The delegate’s distribution in committees was as follows:

In the Human Rights Council Committee Marc Alcalá, Sociology student, represented Venezuela. The issues discussed in this committee were the legalization of euthanasia and the different positions on death penalty.  
The European Council hosted a debate that focused on a review of the Schengen Agreement and the issue of the refugee’s crisis. Eric Barrantes, Political Science and Public Administration student, represented Austria.

In the Security Council, Becem Hassen, graduated in Spanish and French Law and student of the Master's Degree in Legal Profession, was the delegate for the United Kingdom. This committee talked about issues like the use of drones.

Finally, in the Disarmament and International Security committee or DISEC there was a debate about arms trade regulations and the reasonability to protect, according to the resolution of the United Nations Security Council in Libya (2011).

Johanna Molotoala and Julie Devillers, Spanish and French Law students, represented the US. Víctor Flores, International Relations student in the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (Mèxic) and exchange student, represented El Salvador. Lastly, Marta Trillas, Law student, represented France.

Víctor Flores and Marta Trillas received the Honourable Delegate Award (award for the second best delegate in the committee) and the Best Delegate Award (award for the best delegate in the committee), respectively.
