Training in English for a Global Sector

With Tourism, the UAB expands its number of bachelor's degree in English, which are now four, together with Business Management and Administration, Economics and Primary Education. This new degree is based on the same syllabus as the one offered in the bachelor's degree in Tourism, but all lectures are held in English. A total of 40 of the 180 places are offered in English and the price of the degree does not vary.

The bachelor's degree in Tourism in English is basically addressed to students interested in developing a professional career in organisations working in international markets. Those interested are recommended to have a level B2 in English on the Common European Framework of Reference, although it is not necessary to take any specific test in English to be admitted to this degree course.

Students will receive integrated training in one of today's most international sector: Students will obtain a general insight into tourism and knowledge of specific areas of management and planning, in organisations, activities, destinations, products and resources in a sector that is heavily oriented towards international markets and in which the lingua franca normally is English.

Therefore, students will not 'only' learn English (this can already be achieved through the normal bachelor's degree in Tourism and by enrolling in language courses); they will also acquire many communicative skills, specific work techniques and humanistic aspects in English, which with contribute to their total integration in a completely globalised sector as is tourism.

Students of the bachelor's degree in Tourism - English will also have the chance to study at least three other languages (French, German, Chinese), apart from the many others which can be studied through the exchange programmes with other countries in Europe and around the world.
