The University of Indonesia (UI) has published the sixth edition of its GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities. The ranking compares universities' policies on sustainability and respect for the environment.

In the last three years the UAB has moved up from 126th place overall, where it stood in 2013, to 44th in 2014 and 20th in the latest edition: 2015. This has taken it to first place among Spanish universities, followed by the University of Alcalà (in 37th position worldwide) and the Autonomous University of Madrid (62nd).

The ranking has six categories: infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water usage, transport and education. The UAB stands out particularly in waste management (6th place worldwide) and energy and climate change (13th place).

407 universities have taken part in this edition: up from 360 universities in 62 countries in the last one. First place went to the University of Nottingham in the UK, followed by the University of Connecticut and the University of California, Davis, in the USA.
