The institutional event celebrating the creation of the new UAB Doctoral School took place on 4 June. The school will be in charge of organising all PhD programmes and related activities. This new centre will foster synergies between the different departments, research and hospital centres which are members of the UAB-CIE Sphere. It will also foster collaboration with institutions and businesses with the aim of helping PhD students build their professional career. The school therefore has become one of the central columns of the UAB-CIE Sphere, a pole of innovation and knowledge in which the training or researchers is a key element.

The UAB Doctoral School was created with the intention of aiding the university in the efficient organisation of decentralising decisions, offering transparent management procedures, taking on a collective responsibility towards research at the PhD level and coordinating PhD programmes.

The school's direction committee is formed by the coordinators of the PhD programmes in which the UAB participates, as well as student representatives, collaboration entities and members of the academic administration offices. Other members of the committee include Pilar Dellunde, Vice Rector for Research and Director of the Doctoral School; and Xavier Gabarrell, Academic Secretary.
