The 32nd call of the UAB Solidarity Fund addressed to members of teaching/research and administrative/service staff and call E2014-2015 addressed to postgraduate students (diploma, MA, PhD) are now open. The UAB Solidarity Fund, managed by the FAS, promotes action for university cooperation in developing countries and activities for development through education linked to the UAB. The fund derives from the aspirations of people studying and working at the UAB and of the university itself to support initiatives from the university community in the area of development cooperation and awareness raising.

Previous calls have seen the funding of ten projects, developed throughout 2014. These included activities relating to prospection, training, research applied to development and technical guidance in the areas of (among others) health, education, agriculture and renewable energy, environment and veterinary support, addressed to countries such as Mauritania, Senegal, Ethiopia, Uganda, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay and Argentina. In the area of development cooperation, a project for the mainstreaming of food sovereignty in UAB centres and faculties has been funded, as have development-communication workshops. This link provides further information on projects funded in previous Solidarity Fund calls.

The 32nd UAB Solidarity Fundcall; the E2014-2015 call

The 32nd call for teaching/research and administrative/service staff works along two lines. On the one hand, the call prioritises actions for inter-university cooperation aimed at strengthening the universities and their research in developing countries counterparts, as is improvement in university management (line 1). On the other hand, activities for development through education, aimed at the promotion of critical knowledge and at the introduction of specific contents and tools for UAB studies, are emphasised (line 2). Applications can be submitted from 7 January to 20 February 2015.

The E2014-2015 call aims at promoting the participation of postgraduate students (diploma, MA, PhD) in projects and other inter-university cooperation initiatives in developing countries or in development through education directly linked to their studies. In this regard, proposals related to broader UAB projects and research work in MA or PhD studies will be particularly appreciated. Applications for this call can be submitted from 7 January, and there are three deadline periods: 27 March 2015; 30 June 2015; 30 October 2015.

Regulations and application forms for both calls are now available on the FAS website.
The FAS team will offer guidance to all potential applicants.
