The QS Top 50 Under 50 ranking, which classifies the best 50 world universities under 50 years of age, places the UAB in 9th place worldwide and 1st in Spain. The ranking is compiled by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, a company specialising in the evaluation of teaching and research institutions.

This year's classification is led by the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. The UAB ranks second in Europe, behind the University of Maastricht (the Netherlands).

QS Top 50 Under 50 ranks universities founded after 1967, and is based on the results of the QS World University Ranking, which this year has analysed 916 of the world's universities.

The QS Rankings are based on four pillars: research, teaching, employability, and internationalisation. They use six indicators: academic reputation, reputation amongst businesses, ratio of students per faculty, citations, internationalisation of faculties and ratio of international students.
