The UAB launches the Living Lab in Mental Health

Living Lab Salut Mental
The Living Lab in Mental Health is launched following the motto of this year's Festival, with the aim of making the UAB campus a space for experimentation, innovation and co-creation.

15/06/2018

Following the motto of the FM17 UAB, "Mental Health, visible and without stigmas", the UAB turns the campus into a space for experimentation, innovation and co-creation with the creation of the Living Lab in Mental Health, which seeks to improve the emotional well-being of the university community.

Living Labs are open innovation ecosystems based on the user, with a systematic co-creation approach among the 4 times Helix (users, companies, researchers and public administration), which allow quick prototyping or validation of knowledge and technology generated during this process. Specifically, the Living Lab in Mental Health will allow evaluating the potential impact of knowledge and technology generated by the university in relation to mental health and social welfare.

For the moment, the first phase that consisted of sending a survey to all the members of the UAB community (PAS, PDI and students) to detect the aspects related to their social welfare, is already finished. In a second phase, in order to address these challenges collaboratively, the results of the survey will be analyzed in more depth through working groups and processes involving representatives of the 4 times Helix. The final format of the activities that will derive from this investigation may be varied.

Living Labs at the UAB

In 2015, the UAB participated in the creation of the Library Living Lab of Volpelleres, in Sant Cugat. Currently, the first Fab Living Labs UAB is being launched on the UAB campus: one in the School of Engineering to promote digital and advanced manufacturing and prototyping, and a second in the field of digital humanities, in the Humanities Library.
