The UAB website on animal law has created the first database on legislation and jurisprudence on animals, with comprehensive information which had not yet been compiled into one only source. There are currently 1984 documents included in the database, all freely accessible and available in PDF format. The Affinity Foundation has financially supported the initiative since its creation.

The database allows users to search by area (international, European Union, National, Autonomous Communities or municipal), and offers information on legislation and court decisions on subjects such as hunting, circuses, livestock farms, cruelty to animals, sacrifice, the use of guide dogs, etc. There are 160 keywords which permit filtering the information.

This database strengthens the UAB position as a leader in this academic field. It is the only university in Europe to offer an undergraduate subject related to these issues (Animal Welfare Law, subject included in the bachelor's degree in law) and a master's degree programme: the Master's Degree in Animal Law and Society, as well as being the only worldwide offering not only a classroom-based learning modality, but also an online option. Moreover, Marita Giménez Candela, lecturer of the Department of Public Law and Legal History Studies at the UAB, directs the International Center for Animal Law Policy (ICALP), the first international and interdisciplinary centre focusing on animal law and public policies.
