The UAB consolidates its position in the Shanghai university ranking

For a second year, the UAB is amongst the top 200 to 300 universities in the world according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2014. The university stands out in areas of knowledge such as mathematics, life sciences, medicine, social sciences, chemistry, economics and computer science.

The UAB is positioned between the top 200 to 300 universities in the world according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2014, published by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The ARWU is one of the most prestigious rankings today. This is the second time the UAB reaches this level in the ranking and consolidates itself with a steady improvement seen in the past ten years.

The UAB also scored highly in several academic fields, and is positioned amongst the top 151 to 200 universities in life and agriculture sciences, clinical medicine and pharmacy, social sciences, chemistry, economics and computer sciences. Moreover, it ranked amongst the top 101 to 150 universities in the field of mathematics.

The number one university in this year's general rankings is Harvard University (USA). British universities Cambridge and Oxford are the only institutions from outside the United States to score high on the ranking. Of the 500 universities included in the ranking, a total of twelve are Spanish.
