As the academic year 2017-2018 and the exams finish, the international students of the UAB go back home and this way the tasks of the mentors come to an end. The Mentor program aims to facilitate the arrival and the stay of the international students of the UAB by mentoring or the help between equals, as it is the local students who assist newcoming international students.

The program closes this year with these numbers: 49 mentors, chosen among the 71 offered, 205 international students with mentor, of the 376 that requested one, and 12 of the 13 faculties of the UAB campus with mentor. Some international students are assigned to a local student from their faculty. This way, they can help them if they go together to the same subject or introduce them to other students and teachers. Mentors usually are students who have lived the experience of going abroad in an Erasmus program or a UAB Exchange Program that have had a mentor.

During the year, mentors and international students have prepared and participated in several activities; for example, the International Welcome Days (from February the 12th to February the 17th 2018), the activities in Sant Jordi or a calçotada organized in march where a total of 85 both local and international students attended. Mentors also organized walks in Barcelona at night and now, in order to close the cycle of activities, they are preparing one more to say goodbye.

If you want to become a mentor the next semester you can register in the Community Involvement Unit website until June the 11th 2018. And if you cannot wait until September and you want to live the experience of having contact with international students, you can now join the Buddy Programme and participate in the activities of the UAB Barcelona Summer School 2018.
