Services at the UAB campus in August

As in previous years, the Bellaterra Campus facilities of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona will be closed from 4 to 24 August. Some of the campus services will, however, still be available on special schedules. The FGC train schedules will be affected by construction work being carried out at the Sarrià station.

The UAB will be closing all its centres from 4 to 24 August. Some services, however, will be available. The train service offered by the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat will be affected by construction work being carried out at the Sarrià station in Barcelona.

The UAB security services will be working 24 hours a day, every day (93 581 25 25). The UAB Healthcare Service will be closed and therefore, in case of an emergency, please contact the campus security services. The healthcare service will be available from 25 to 31 August, Monday to Friday (except for official holidays), from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The UAB Information Service on the Plaça Cívica will be open from 1 to 12 August and from 22 to 31 August. Its opening hours will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday (93 581 11 11, informacio@uab.cat). International Welcome Point will be open from 25 to 31 August, from 9.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (93 581 22 10, international.welcome.point@uab.cat).

The School of Postgraduate Studies will be open from 1 to 5 and from 22 to 31 August, Monday to Friday, with the Student Service Centre open on the second floor. And the General Register Office, in the Rectorat building, will be open all of August Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (https://seuelectronica.uab.cat/).

All libraries on campus will be closed from 4 to 24 August: the Science and Technology and the Veterinary Medicine libraries will be closed from 1 to 28 August, and the Journals Building and Medicine Library will be closed from 1 to 31 August.

The study hall at the Social Sciences Library will be open from 1 to 24 August, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and from 25 to 31 August, from 7 a.m. to 12 midnight; and starting on 7 a.m. on 1 September, the study hall will once again be open 24 hours a day. The Computer Services User Support Unit will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from 1 to 21 August, and from 24 a.m. to 5 p.m. from 24 to 28 August (+34 93 581 581 00, cas@uab.cat).

Another service that will be open all month is the Physical Activity Service (SAF), Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

For those needing to make photocopies, the self-service photocopy machines will be functioning and the reprography stores will be open at the Plaça Cívica (open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.), at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, and at the Faculty of Sciences (from 29 to 31 August, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.).

With regard to bars and restaurants, the ones open from 29 to 31 August will be those at the faculties of Philosophy and Arts and Psychology (from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Social Sciences (from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). On 30 and 31 August, the bar between the faculties of Education and Translation and Interpreting will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Cafè de l'Hotel, located at the Hotel Campus, will be open all month from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Changes in FGC train services

The internal bus service will not run between 4 and 24 August. From 25 to 30 August the service will be running, at intervals of approximately 30 minutes. Normal service will resume from 31 August. For information on reaching the campus with alternative means of transport, please consult the website www.uab.cat/accessibilitat-transports.

The Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) will be conducting construction work at the Sarrià train station and this will affect the schedule of all trains stopping at the UAB. From 13 to 16 August, the S2 line will operate from the stations Baixador de Vallvidrera to Sabadell Rambla. And on the evenings of 13 and 14 August, the S2 line will operate only from the stations Sant Cugat to Sabadell Rambla. A shuttle bus will be available at the stations with no service.

Additionally, from 25 July to 30 September, both the S2 and S55 lines will stop at all stations. Please check the FGC website for more information: www.fgc.cat/cat/.
