The ICREA Workshop on Graphene Nanobiosensors will take place on 25 and 26 May at the UAB's Casa Convalescència in Barcelona (Sant Antoni Maria Claret 171). This unique event will reunite the main international experts in applying graphene and 2D materials to the field of Biosensors. The programme includes top-level speakers, including the 2010 Nobel Laureate in Physics, Konstantin Novoselov.

2D materials, and especially graphene, are of great scientific interest and generate several commercial opportunities. Europe has made many efforts to consolidate a leading position in this matter with initiatives such as Graphene Flagship, in which the ICN2 was one of the initial promoters and co-directed one of the working packs.

This event, which once again places Barcelona and the ICN2 at the core of graphene research, has been made possible thanks to the support of ICREA, through its call for the ICREA Conference Awards; to the funding provided by the event's sponsors Graphenea, Sensia, WITec and Nikon, and to the work carried out by personnel at the Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence ICN2.

The opening session will include the presence of Pablo Ordejón, director of the centre; Ferran Sancho, Rector of the UAB; Emilià Pola, Executive Director of ICREA; Arben Merkoçi and Stephan Roche, members of the organising committee; and Konstantin Novoselov, Chairman of the first workshop session.
