Health and Sustainability Week

The whole UAB community is invited to participate in the Sixth Health and Sustainability Week (13-17 April). the purpose of this week is to promote healthy and sustainable lifestyle habits.

All activities can be consulted on the programme

Before the week begins, there will be a travelling exhibit of the UAB-SiS Campus to inform university community members of all the actions and activities taking place on campus throughout the year.


Form 13 to 17 April, entrance to the SAF facilities will be free, coinciding with the centre's open days.

The campus will also organise several walks and bike tours around the Bellaterra campus throughout the week.

Once again, the university offers "Activa't i mou-te a la feina" in different faculties and centres around campus. The activities are short-lasting and of low intensity, and were very popular among attendants last year.

Informative activities will also be offered on health-related subjects such as stress management, laughter therapy, relaxation workshops, gluten-free recipes, food safety and quality, and many more.

The UAB restaurants will be offering dishes from different parts of the world during the whole week.

Celebration of the Central Day on Thursday 16 April
The central day of the Health and Sustainability Week will be held on Thursday 16 April. At the Plaça Cívica, members will be able to participate in several health related activities organised by the mobile unit of the university's Healthcare Service. The Vila Universitària will be celebrating Bicycle Day. A SIS Campus Fair and different training activities will also be held. Participants will learned to perform CPR and a birthing pool will be set up, with advice for interested in a water birth.

With regard to sports, several activities will be held around noon, such a 3x3 basketball tournament; at 1:30 pm there will be a health race (5.4 km) and five minutes later a health walk (5.6 km), which will consist on a walk through Vall Moronta to discover the surroundings of the campus and some of its most important plant species. At 1:30 pm, a zumba master class (ZMBSAF) will be offered at the Plaça Cívica, with simple correographies based on Latin American music.

Finally, at 2:30 pm a traditional arrossada dish will be offered for lunch at the Plaça Cívica.

Most activities can be validated as training activities for PAS members, and all those interested must first sign up and then sign in at the end of the activity. All PAS members can sign up using this form. The deadline for signing up is 7 April. 
 
The UAB thus consolidates the celebration of a week dedicated to promoting activities amongst the university community which favour acquiring healthy, sustainable habits that respect the environment. Last year almost 2,000 people participated in the activities. This year already marks the sixth edition of the UAB Health and Sustainability Week.
