Guillem Gavaldà wins the Francesc Garriga Poetry prize
Guillem Gavaldà has held several poetry recitals. The Ramon Llull Institute selected him to participate from 15 to 18 December in an international poetry conference held in Istanbul, and on 21 December he offered his first poetry recital in Barcelona.
Guillem Gavaldà, second-year student of the degree in Classical Studies at the UAB, received first prize in the Francesc Garriga poetry competition thanks to his piece entitled Fam Bruta, which was published this past December.
The work is a collection of original poems written by Gavaldà which was published jointly by three publishing houses renowned in the field of Catalan poetry: LaBreu edicions, Adia edicions and Cafè Central. These three were also the organisers of the competition.
Before winning the prize, Gavaldà had already held several poetry recitals. The Ramon Llull Institute selected him to participate in an international poetry conference held from 15 to 18 December. And on 21 December he offered his first poetry recital in Barcelona.
According to the declarations of his publishers to the online newspaper NacióDigital, Gavaldà's poems are “an answer to the poetics of Francesc Garriga”and his work “contains a condensed energy and nucleus. All of his poems are well interwoven, with a common narrative and sensitivity”.
