Giovanna Massei, ecologist at the National Wildlife Management Centre, Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), will offer a conference entitled “Fertility control to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts: applications for an overcrowded continent” on Wednesday 27 April at 1 pm at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

21/04/2016

Giovanna Massei, coordinator of the European branch of the American organisation NWMC, is responsible for human-animals conflicts globally and an international referent in the issue of contraception as a control tool for wild animals.

In her conference, Massei will offer a global vision of the current situation and focus especially on the methods applied to wild ungulate animals (wild boars, pigs, deer and fallow deer, etc.). She will also explain the different methods and products available for these animals.

The ecologist will complement her conference with the conclusions of different theoretical and practical studies conducted with wild ungulate populations and with recommendations when deciding about the convenience of using control methods to prevent overpopulation.
