Last Friday, February 23rd, INS Can Roca was proclaimed winner of the local phase of the High School Debate League, becoming the representative of the UAB in the final phase, which will take place at the Miguel University Hernández of Elche on April 11th until Friday, 13th. A month and a half later, on Friday, April 6th, the team returned to the university to attend a preparatory session for this last phase.

The session was held in Room 2 of the Resource Centre for Students Societies and was led by Javier Martínez Domingo, member of the winning team of the XI edition (2014) of the University Debate League. The training started at 10 o'clock in the morning, leaving a short break around twelve thirty, and finished at 2:00 PM. During these four hours they dealt with questions related to the structure of the argumentation and the refutations, and the difficulties with which they might have to deal in the final phase with respect to the local one.

The days of debate of the local phase of the High School Debate League began on February 21st and ended Friday 23rd, a week before the days of the University Debate League, in the Theater Hall of the UAB. The number of institutes registered in this edition, a total of sixteen, increased compared to eleven last year. The subject that was object of debate in the local phase, "Does humor have limits?", will be the same one that the team of INS Can Roca will have to face in the final next week.

The High School Debate League, organized by the Catalan university network, allows high school students to promote the use of the word through dialectical confrontation on a controversial and topical issue, and also offers the possibility for students to maintain a first contact with the university world. You can find more information on the blog of the Debate League, on the Youtube channel, where soon the videos of the debates will be published, and on the website of Community Involvement.
