The UAB ranks among the top 100 worldwide in 16 disciplines

The UAB ranks 31 worldwide in Veterinary Medicine and is amongst the top 100 univeristies of the world in 15 more disciplines, according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject. In the general area of Natural Sciences, the UAB moves up 38 positions and now ranks 89.

The British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published the results of its seventh edition of its QS World University Rankings by Subject, which classifies the 1,130 top universities in the world in 48 subjects.
 
The UAB ranks 31 worldwide in the subhect of Veterinary Medicine, moving up two points from last year's edition, and is amongst the 100 top universities in Archaeology, Art and Design, Modern Languages, Agricultural Sciences, Anatomy, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Physics, Anthropology, Communication, Economics, Education, Sociology, Social Politics, and Sports-Related Studies: four subjects more than last year. In addition, the university improves 38 positions and ranks 89 in the general area of Natural Sciences.

 
The UAB is amongst the top 150 in the subjects of Philosophy, Chemical Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics; two subjects more than last year's edition. It also ranks amongst the top 200 universities in the world in English Language and Literature, History, Electronic Engineering, Biolgy, Psychology, Geology, Materials Science, Accounting and Finances, Law and Political Science; adding one more subject to the list of last year'e ranking.
 
The QS World University Rankings are considered to be one of the most prestigious in the world, together with the Times Higher Education and the Academic Ranking of World Universities by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.
