The UAB commemorates the Day of Women and Girls in Science with 'Marie Curie'

On February 13th , with the screening of Marie Curie, film by Marie-Noëlle Sehr that chronicles the life and struggle of the French scientist, the Observatory for Equality of the UAB will commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. After the movie, there will be a round table.

The General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed the year 2015 that every February 11 will celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The Observatory for Equality wants to commemorate this day with an act on February 13th, which will consist of the screening of the film Marie Curie (Marie-Noëlle Sehr), followed by a round table.
 
The meeting will begin at 11 h in the Sala Cinema with a presentation by Sara Moreno, vice-chancellor of Students and Employability, and Joana Gallego, director of the Observatory for Equality. Next, there will be a screening of the film, which tells the life of the French scientist and her struggle for recognition in a scientific community dominated by men.
 
At 13h, the colloquium will take place, with the participation of Sara Moreno and María Teresa Paramio, assistant to the Vice-rector for International Relations and member of the Association of Women Researchers and Technologists (AMIT); Gemma García, Vice Dean of Students of the Faculty of Sciences; and Lydia Giménez, director of the Departmental Unit of Medical Psychology of the Faculty of Medicine. The debate will be moderated by Joana Gallego. This event is part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
