In addition to the 40 selected drawings, a bibliographic display has also been prepared by the library with a selection of books dedicated to illustrations.

Until 30 October, the Science and Technology Library will offer an exhibition of the fifth edition of the International Award on Scientific Illustration "Illustraciencia". The award aims to disseminate the importance of scientific and naturalist drawings and at the same time recognize and reward the work done by illustrators.

In this year's edition, a total of 449 drawings were presented by illustrators from 30 different countries. The majority of proposals were submitted from Spain, Portugal, Colombia and Mexico. The winner of a 600 Euro cash prize was Portuguese Pedro Salgado, with his drawing Garoupas do Mediterrâneo (Groupers of the Mediterranean).

The library is exhibiting 40 drawings selected by the jury in the entrance hall and the General Hall. With the aim of bringing scientific drawings closer to the general public, the library has prepared a bibliographic display of books focused on these types of illustrations. From technical manuals explaining the secrets of naturalist drawings, to specific works of famous illustrators and catalogues featuring the historical evolution of this discipline.

The Illustraciencia Award is organised by the Catalan Association of Scientific Communication (ACCC) and receives funding from the Spanish Ministry for Economics and Competitiveness and the Spanish Science and Technology Foundation (FECYT). The exhibition can also be viewed by clicking here.
