“La división social y sexual del Trabajo en transformación” (Social and Sexual Division of Work in Transformation) by Núria Sánchez Mira is the title of the winning project in the fourth edition of the Ángel Rozas Award, granted by the Cipriano García Foundation (Workers' Commissions of Catalonia).

Her research uses a sociological approach to study the important transformations in social and sexual divisions found in the workplace within today's economic crisis context. It particularly focuses on the working patterns of couples, in the changes and developments at home during the period of economic expansion and since the onset of the crisis in 2008. The changes in gender relations or the social class axis are some of the issues Sánchez Mira has analysed in her study.

The jury was presided by historian and emeritus lecturer of the Pompeu Fabra University Josep Fontana, publisher Xavier Folch, director of the Cipriano García Foundation Rosa Sans, professor in Political Science and Administration at the UAB Josep M. Vallès and doctor in Economic Sciences and lecturer in Public Finance at the University of Barcelona Maite Vilalta.

Núria Sánchez Mira received her PhD in Sociology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She was a fellow of the Ministry of Education's FPU programme and currently forms part of the Centre d’Estudis Sociològics sobre la Vida Quotidiana i el Treball (QUIT), where she is a research technician. She has worked in several national and international competitive research projects (CAPRIGHT-Resources, rights and capabilities; in search of social foundations for Europe - Sixth Framework Programme; “La brecha salarial y la brecha de cuidados. Dos factores de desigualdad de género”- Instituto de la Mujer - EEA Grants; “La brecha salarial como fenómeno multidimensional. Análisis de barreras institucionales, organizacionales y culturales. Propuestas para la intervención” - Recercaixa).

Her research interests include studies on work and occupation from the gender perspective, with special interest put into comparative approaches and those which use mixed methods.
