UAB celebrates International Women's Day

In addition to the events held on 8 March, the UAB has organised conferences, debates, workshops, etc. to celebrate International Women's Day in March.

As part of International Women's Day, during the month of March several activities will be offered at the UAB, such as debates, conferences, workshops, etc. (consult a list of all activities here or at the end of this webpage).

There will be a feminist recital of Palestinian poems under the name of "Dóna la volta al gènere" (Turn Gender Around), a conference on painter and anarchist Remedios Varo, another on women in the field of neuroscience, a special programme on UABràdio, a conference on women's role in building human towers (castellers), a debate on women in "La Caputxinada" of 1966, a film showing and debate, a conference on the youth in Palestine with a focus on gender, another on the issue of gender in alternative leisure activities, a debate on 3+2 and male chauvinism, the presentation of an exhibit on comics and women, a swing workshop, an exhibit on famous women scientists, another on inspiring women and an exhibit on "La Caputxinada", the name given to the events occurring in 1966 when students tried to form a union under Franco's regime by meeting secretly at the Pere Caputxins convent.

The Physical Activity Service (SAF) will be free for women from 7 to 13 March, and it will also be offering special activities.

This year's highlighted activity will be the UAB's 1st Quick Debate Marathon, with the subject: "Public policies in employment are effective to achieve equality between women and men". The activity will be held in the Collective Resource Centre in the Plaça Cívica, from 10 am to 5 pm and has been organised jointly by the Observatory for Equality and the Community Activation Group.
