The UAB degree in Psychology offers a complete panorama of both the traditional and emerging professional and research fields available to psychologists. The training given reflects the different currents in methodology and thought, and critical thinking is encouraged.

Students can choose to follow one of the following learning tracks: Specialisation in Health Psychology, Specialisation in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Specialisation in Adult Clinical Psychology, Specialisation in Work and Organisational Psychology, Specialisation in Analysis and Intervention in Social Psychology Specialisation in Psychoeducational Analysis and Intervention.

The bachelor's degree in Psychology and the master's degree in General Health Psychology, also taught at the UAB, are requirements for practising the new officially regulated healthcare profession known as general health psychology.

The academic training provided in this degree is held in very high regard both in the healthcare sector and in other professional areas: education, social work, etc.). In the field of psychology in human resources and organisations, it is very highly regarded by businesses. In postgraduate programmes related to clinical and health psychology, priority is usually given to students from our faculty as their training is considered to be very comprehensive.

In addition, the Faculty's Psychology Services Laboratory attracts professionals to the UAB and serves as a centre for the students' work placements, where they can work in educational, social or health psychology.

The Faculty of Psychology of the UAB is recognised internationally for its research activity. It was involved in setting up the Barcelona Trauma, Crisis and Conflict Unit (UTCCB) – the first centre in Spain specialising in trauma – together with the Catalan Association of Psychologists and the Faculty's Psychology Services Laboratory. The UTCCB offers personal attention 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and is a perfect chance for students to get hands-on experience in the field.

The teaching staff comprises members of several departments (Department of General, Development and Educational Psychology; Department of Psychobiology and Health Science Methodology, Department of Health and Clinical Psychology, and Department of Social Psychology) organised into over 30 highly active research groups.

Student Profile

The degree in Psychology provides the scientific and technical training needed by professionals working to improve people's health and quality of life and to solve problems in traditional and emerging areas of Psychology (healthcare, education, human resources, etc.). For these studies it is recommendable to be observant, have critical analysis skills, emotional control and the ability to self-criticise. Students must be able to plan and organise their work, individually and in groups.

ECTS methodology implies continuous assessment of all students' work.
