The Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy has a markedly professional focus, providing a solid, eminently practical, grounding in science. At the end of the course, students will have the knowledge, abilities and attitudes required to work in all areas of the profession, i.e. as general physiotherapists.

The Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy is taught at the Faculty of Medicine. This faculty has a long teaching tradition and close ties with the UAB Hospital Teaching Units at Vall d'Hebron Hospital, Sant Pau Hospital, Hospital del Mar's Health Park, Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and the Parc Taulí Health Consortium, all of them benchmark centres in Spain for hospital care and research.

Students of the Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy can take the following specialisations: Specialisation in Physiotherapy of the Locomotive Apparatus, Specialisation in Neurological Physiotherapy, and Specialisation in Cardio-respiratory Physiotherapy.

Student Profile

Those taking this course must have the capacity for interpersonal relations and teamwork, the ability to listen and adapt to surroundings and show responsibility and dedication. They must also be capable of solving problems, making decisions, having an interest in self-learning and respecting different values and cultures. They should have the ability to shoulder responsibilities and be committed to people's health and well-being.
A good level in physics, mathematics and biology is recommended.

Career options

Career options for physiotherapists lie in the different areas of healthcare work: treating pathologies in medical and surgical specialist areas; disease prevention and health promotion; research, teaching and management are other options available. Self-employment or employment within the public or private sector are equally possible.

Timetables

In your first year, lectures will be held once a day mornings and afternoons; after that practical sessions will be held in the mornings and theoretical sessions in the afternoons.
