Bachelor's degree in History
The Bachelor's Degree in History provides training in historians' methods and techniques of analysis. Students learn to use tools, including electronic ones, to seek and identify information, so as to solve problems in historiography.
This course aims to respond to new demands from the cultural sector, in which there is currently an upsurge in knowledge of history. Sectors like tourism, museums, mass media and publishing in particular are employing experts in disseminating different aspects and periods in history.
Our graduates acquire the ability to analyse the past and, therefore the present, and can go on into professions like teaching, research, archive management, librarianship, document management, journalism and publishing, cultural consultancy in institutions, international project management, public administration, or diplomacy.
The degree offers nine specialisations to learn more about various periods in history (Ancient History, Medieval History, Contemporary History and Modern History), deal with aspects of Social History (History and Gender, History of War, Social and Cultural History of the Modern and Contemporary Ages ), focus on the local area (History of Catalonia) or tackle management and research in documentary heritage.
The Faculty of Philosophy and Arts of the UAB, which has taught history since its creation in 1968, can offer top-level physical resources (the Humanities Library and unique document collections like SIBHIL·LA) and teaching staff that stand out for their prestige and for their research activity.
