 Bachelor's degree in Education Studies

The bachelor's degree in Education Studies provides the necessary theoretical, professional and practical training for analysing, intervening in and evaluating educational systems and processes, in the organisation and administration of the educational system, and in formal and non-formal educational institutions and agencies.

The majority of students (90%) of the Bachelor's Degree in Education Studies enter the labour market, perfectly capable of putting their leadership and coordination skills to use in education and training activities, and in producing and managing educational materials and resources.

This degree offers students the possibility of doing two Practicums, one compulsory and one optional, with the aim of acquiring a greater amount of experience in the labour market before completing their studies.

Programmes in Education Studies have consolidated themselves in the past few years thanks to the establishment of the Lifelong Learning concept, which has broadened both its field of scientific study and of professional action.

Student Profile

The profile of students of Education Studies is that of someone who takes a personal, intellectual or social interest in education and formal, non-formal or informal learning in a broad sense, in the changes currently taking place in education, in inequalities in education, in teacher training, in schools' functioning, in planning, management and consultation for educational processes, plans and projects, in creating teaching resources and in educational innovation and research.

Students of Education Studies are responsible, observant, intuitive, organised, analytic, methodical and articulate.

We recommend that students have a knowledge of statistics and a foreign language.

Career options

Education Studies graduates work in all contexts in which there are persons in training, in cultural, recreational and developmental activities, as employees or on a self-employed basis. Some examples of the type of work involved are as follows.
  • Coordinating and leading teams, programmes and services in education.
  • Designing, developing and evaluating training plans.
  • Delivering courses and training activities.
  • Giving advice and guidance to persons or groups.
  • Designing and producing teaching materials and resources.
  • Activating groups and communities.
  • Conducting studies and research.

The bachelor's degree in Education Studies offers a wide range of career options in a variety of contexts. In the field of education there is work in teaching and pedagogical consultancy, consultancy services on personal, professional, academic and/or family matters, coordinating schools for adults and hospital schools, specialist diagnosis centres, teacher training and design of teaching materials.

In the social field, there is work as pedagogical director, specialist or advisor in social, educational and cultural centres, associations or foundations, as managers of projects for recreation or sustainable human development, and as social, educational and cultural mediators. There is also work in education, in social, personal, cultural, employment, economic promotion, justice, international services (both in public administration and in private organisations) in the establishment of policies on education, diversity, equality, etc.

In the private sector graduates can work as managers, specialists, and trainers in personnel departments and knowledge management departments, as career guidance consultants, as producers and consultants on pedagogy in publishers', as managers of cultural and heritage projects in civic centres, museums, etc., as e-learning programme designers, as educational consultants in the media, museums and cultural projects and in research and knowledge transfer centres, and as specialists in educational innovation processes.
