The Bachelor's Degree in Automation and Industrial Electronic Engineering provides a very extensive overview of this subject, in traditional areas and emerging ones like automation, industrial computing, industrial communications and robotics. It offers practical training to engineers, helping them to acquire skills needed in the profession, across different areas and business types.

Automation and Industrial Electronic Engineering is a specialisation that equips future engineers to apply electronics in all areas of industry. A good example of this is the automation of production lines for motor vehicles, household appliances, bottling, food processing, etc., involving both the selection of electronic components and systems and the programming of these systems (industrial computing) and their maintenance.

Another example is the design or repair of electronic circuit boards and the programming of these circuits to make electronic equipment for measuring (temperature, water flow, velocity, pressure, etc.), controlling (electric motors, heaters, chemical baths, alternative energies, robots, etc.) or for alarm centres.

One major area is that of production management in electronics firms, while another is that of specialist sales staff.

The main characteristic that sets this degree programme apart from the rest is the involvement of companies in students' education. Thus, in the final year, students complete part of their training in a professional context. In the Engineering By Doing version students spend a long period with the company, working on a previously agreed training project, which consolidates their existing competences and equips them with new ones. Also, these studies include a large amount of laboratory practice using cutting-edge teaching equipment that is placed entirely at students' disposal. In addition, students receive personal attention through tutorials.
