1st Se4All International Workshop: "Food Innovation Through Adding Value to Crops"
Description:
The research team of the European project Se-bioFORtified ALfaLfa for Se-enriched Dairy products (Se4All) is organising this workshop to present its advances in functional food research and Selenium benefits.
Se4All, led by the UAB, aims to produce selenium-enriched dairy products and cheeses by biofortifying alfalfa hay with this micronutrient by foliar application. The aim is to find a solution to achieve an adequate level of selenium in diets poor in this mineral.
The workshop, aimed at professionals, will include the intervention of the project's research leader and professor of the Department of Chemistry at the UAB, Manuel Valiente, and other experts in food innovation, plant nutrition, agrigenomics, biofortification and other related topics.
Participation is free of charge. The event includes a visit to the CRAG (Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics). To attend the workshop you must register at the following link.

"Urban food systems for plant-based products for local sustainability: Would you grow your own greens at home?"
Description:
The UAB leads the European project Se-bioFORtified ALfaLfa for Se-enriched Dairy products (Se4All) to produce selenium-enriched milk products and cheeses by biofortifying alfalfa with this micronutrient through foliar application. The aim is to find a solution to reach an adequate level of selenium in diets poor in this mineral.
The project organises a science café at El Cau Restaurant (UAB). The talk will be given by Roberto Boada, researcher at the UAB Department of Chemistry. This conference will allow professionals and researchers to share their knowledge about chemistry and biofortification with students. The interaction with the public will also be through gamification activities during the event.

Bioblitz UAB: to find plants and animals at the campus
Description:
All those interested can sign up until 21 March to participate in the UAB's second edition of Bioblitz, in continuation of the citizen science initiative organised to evaluate the biodiversity found on campus held last year.
The new edition will allow to gather more information on the environments and organisms found on the university campus. This unique opportunity allows participants to learn methodologies used in the study of nature which are often difficult to discover up close. Participants will be able to collaborate in creating a sample of different groups of plants and animals under the guidance of expert field biologists, who will show them how to study different types of living beings.
The project is funded by Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS) in collaboration with the UAB's Environmental Office.
Place: UAB Campus
Date: Friday 24, March2023 - 15:00h
End date: Saturday 25, March2023 - 14:00h
Organiser: Project Awareness and research to transform by educating and advocating for the improvement of biodiversity and sustainability on the UAB campus
