A Màster class by Dr. Andrea Gavinelli in the Master in Animal Law and Society within the module of Animal Welfare in the European Union will take place in Aula 3 (Room 3) of the Facultad de Derecho (Law Faculty) of the UAB.
Andrea Gavinelli is a veterinarian who has been an official civil servant in the European Commission since 1999. Currently he is the head of the Unit of Animal Welfare in the Directorate General for Health and Consumers. Since 2001, he has been an active member in the “Working Group on Animal Welfare” of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and a member of specific work groups at the international level with business members of the European Union. Xavier Manteca is a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (UAB) and holds a Masters in applied animal behavior and animal welfare from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). Climate change: effects on the Arctic
Scientists led by the German Alfred Wegener Institute, among them two ICTA-UAB PhD students, have shown for the first time that global warming is causing alterations to the whole ecosystem of the Arctic, from surface to depth, more quickly than previously thought.

Timothy Bromage is Director of the Hard Tissue Research Unit and Professor of the Department of Biomaterials and Biomimetics at University of New York, and one of the great figures of palaeohistology of our day. He visited us on the occasion of the First International Symposium, organized by ICP, of an emerging discipline which extracts information from the past about human biology by studying fossil tissues.
