Adapted Accommodation
Vila Universitària is a residential complex of 812 apartments, 24 of which are adapted for persons with reduced mobility.
These apartments are distributed among Vila and Vila 2, the new residential building that opened its doors at the end of 2008.
Adapted apartments in Vila
There are two types of adapted apartments:
- C Type apartments
Six shared apartments for a maximum of 5 persons, with living room, kitchen, two bathrooms and 3 rooms (1 individual and 2 shared ones). The doors of access as well as the height of the kitchen and the bathroom are adapted for persons with reduced mobility according to the valid regulations.
- D Type apartments
There are 10 adapted apartments of this type for individual use or for two persons. The apartment is a single piece, loft type, in which a kitchen, one living/bedroom bedroom and a bathroom are distributed. The doors of access as well as the height of the kitchen and the bathroom are adapted for persons with reduced mobility according to the valid regulations.
Apart from the standard adaptations of the apartments, Vila offers the following services to the resident students with disability:
- 24h Service of surveillance
- Door opening system with proximity sensors (under demand)
- Individual adaptations depending on the individual needs with regard to the degree of mobility (under demand).
Adapted apartments in Vila 2
Vila 2 is a new apartment building, opened in 2008. Its 216 apartments are addressed exclusively to third cycle students (masters, postgraduate courses, PhD candidates), to teaching staff, personnel and, previous appraisal of request, to students with disability, especially in situation of dependence.
There are 8 adapted apartments (doors of access, height of the kitchen and the bathroom) for persons with reduced mobility, of which 2 have a chain hoist on the ceiling, to bring the user from bed to the bathroom, automatic opening of the interior doors of access to the bathroom and they are ready for the installation of domotic environment control facilities.
